Words for everyday life

The first topics of every level are free, the rest come with Premium. Your own words are free up to 1,000.

Standard Greek, the one in letters and exams

Siga Siga teaches Standard Modern Greek. It's the language of official letters, schools, the news and every Greek exam, in Cyprus as well as Greece. In the street you'll also hear the Cypriot dialect, with its own words and sounds. It isn't in the app, but standard Greek is what you'll read and write.

Preparing for residence or citizenship

Long-term residence in Cyprus asks for Greek at A2, and citizenship for B1 plus the exam on Cyprus culture. The A1–B1 topics cover the vocabulary of those levels. In all there are 107 topics from A1 to C2, built on the communication situations of the Ελληνομάθεια syllabus.

Citizenship also means a test on Cyprus itself: its institutions, history and culture. For it there's a separate set of about 190 words in 13 topics, from η Βουλή των Αντιπροσώπων (House of Representatives) to η πολιτογράφηση (naturalisation). All 13 topics are open from the start and the first three are free. See the 13 topics.

It's vocabulary, not practice tests. Requirements change, so check the current ones with the Civil Registry and Migration Department.

No Greek keyboard needed

Type in Latin letters and they turn into Greek as you go: “farmakeio” becomes φαρμακειο. When you add a word, the form suggests the right spelling with the accent, το φαρμακείο, and a translation. Every word can be played aloud, and a second tap plays it more slowly. You don't need to learn the alphabet first.

If you have a teacher

Keep each lesson in the calendar: your notes and a homework checklist. Siga Siga spots the Greek words in your notes that you don't have yet and adds them with a translation, one at a time or all at once. Five lessons are free, and Premium has no limit.

Will it help with the citizenship exam?
